The Dupree Report

Senator Barack Obama won the South Carolina primary by a 2-1 vote picking up many black supporters (80% last time it was reported) which is phenomonal in today’s time. What that speaks to is that he appeals to the black voters of South Carolina and whether or not that is an albatross around his neck remains to be seen. My take on that is that this could become very bad for him if the rest of the country wants to teach the “blacks” a lesson and make the whites and latinos vote for Clinton or even possibly Edwards. Obama delivered a resounding Martin-Luther King type victory speech speaking of change and getting rid of the status quo and starting afresh/anew. His supporters are galvanized and ready to go for him at almost the drop of a hat. You can clearly see that the “young” democrats and independents are so enamored with enthusiasm that it is driving their campaigns to new heights. When the next debate comes along, it will be fun to see how he reacts to specific questions in regards to his stances on the issues which is still a question mark on his candidacy.

John Edwards is in a precarious position because in my opinion there is no way that he can win the presidential nomination with the little support that he has been getting in the last few primaries/caucuses. There are reports that John Edwards might join Obama in his cabinet as Attorney General if he moves his support over. I remember John Edwards when he was the vice presidential nominee with Kerry and he wanted to hold that office really bad. Remember when Kerry/Edwards wouldn’t quit that presidential night. Edwards came out with a smile on his face and said that they were prepared to fight to find out about the election and whether or not some votes were suppressed. Guess that didn’t turn out for either. Edwards wants to be in the White House and acting as Attorney General in my humble opinion isn’t high enough for him. Honestly, if Obama wasn’t in the race, Edwards would be leading because he is a white male and the establishment would anoint him to take over after Bush due to Hillary’s polarization that she brings with her.

Bill Clinton needs to recognize that the media has no good things to say about him and misrepresents whatever he says. I know he is smarter than that and should turn it around but the 24-hour news services which have nothing to really say but repeat themselves each hour only speak to the notion that they also have an agenda. Don’t get it wrong people, the media still sets the tone for how we think. That is why they have kept the race thing going. It was reported that Bill Clinton was providing false hope about Obama with calling his campaign a “fairy tale” Here is the transcript that Bill Clinton said and the media reported it incorrectly making it look like Clinton was downgrading Obama’s candidacy.

“Second, it is wrong that Senator Obama got to go through 15 debates trumpeting his superior judgment and how he had been against the war in every year, numerating the years, and never got asked one time, not once, ‘Well, how could you say, that when you said in 2004 you didn’t know how you would have voted on the resolution? You said in 2004 there was no difference between you and George Bush on the war and you took that speech you’re now running on off your website in 2004 and there’s no difference in your voting record and Hillary’s ever since?’ Give me a break.

“This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen…So you can talk about Mark Penn all you want. What did you think about the Obama thing calling Hillary the Senator from Punjab? Did you like that?”

All I want is that people check out the real issues and the real text behind the candidates and their spouses. The media is only about one thing….stories and creating stories. Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough all have taken their position and demonized Clinton once again. I sincerely hope that Clinton gets a good lesson and starts to play the press the correct way.
